L&M Fly-In Outposts

August 2007 Newsletter
Hello to all,

Another year flying by. Today is August 16, seemed just like yesterday we had our first guest arrive at our "new" airbase. Last time I had written, we were fully operational here in Dryden's newest airbase. We are still fixing things up to get it up to L & M's standards. Being it is mid August, we have a good feeling of how people are making the transition to the new location in Dryden. The comments so far have been 99% positive. For the trade off, with the hour extra drive, verses the 35 minutes less in the plane trip each way, people are liking it. We have had only 1 group to say a negative comment, which is well out weighed by the overwhelming positive feedback we are getting on the move.

The weather this summer has been up and down. June turned out to be a wet, cold June for the most part. July rolled around, brought hot, dry weather. The water levels are dropping and the ground is getting dryer and dryer. We did get a small amount of rain here in Dryden the other morning to bring just a little moisture.

The fishing, as always, has been good. For more detailed info check out the web site and our fishing reports. Everyone is catching fish, some weeks are better than others, but everyone is catching plenty. Some weeks are better for big fish than others, too. We have maintained some of the better fisheries and it surely shows. During one of the "hot" spells we had here in NW Ontario, I was out making the "rounds" at the lakes. I asked the customers, "so hows fishing?" One looked back at me in disbelief and said, "Its_____ (mystery) lake, what do you expect?" He proceeded to say all the fish they caught and how good they were doing." Hope you don't mind, Dave from Wisconsin, I used your statement. That's only 1 example. That comment just stuck out by the way he said it.. All of the lakes we operate have some awesome potential, each special in there own way.. Overall, a successful fishing season to date.
I've also been talking to some of our guests this season about new baits. Something to consider for those who like fishing with bait. A lot of good stories about the new "Gulp" baits. Been getting reports of the gulp working almost or just as good as live bait. Even some of the guys say they will catch more fish on the gulp, due to one factor. Not messing around re- baiting the hooks, instead spending more time with the line in the water. My opinion, perfect back up. Take some bait and when its gone or dead, use the "gulp".

Couple of reminders: For those who are planning on making a fishing trip with L & M in 2008 with dates being held by L & M for your group. We MUST have your deposits(of $300.00 per person) in the office by Sept. 1 of this year in order for us to promise your dates and to secure the 2007 rates for your trip in 2008. We have given all of you plenty of time to gather the deposits from your group members, and check to see if the dates will work for your trip. If deposits are NOT in the office by Sept 1, we do not promise reserving dates or honoring 2007 rates. For those who are thinking about booking a trip with L&M in 2008, you can book early to ensure dates and a "better" rate. Remember, we give anyone who books a fishing trip for 2008 before Sept 1, (with the deposit paid in on time), this years' rates. Meaning, go fishing in 2008 and get the 2007 rates. We are expecting to raise the rates for 2008 slightly to cover the forever raising costs to operate a quality fly - in trip. We are then able to continue to maintain the quality of cabins and equipment at the lakes for all of our guests to enjoy. 2008 bookings are looking really good to date.

Passports - For those of you who haven't applied for passports or must renew expired passports, why wait? The rules are in effect, so you might as well get on the ball and get it done. Spring of 2009 you are required to have your passport to get back into the US when leaving Canada by vehicle.

For those who have gone on fishing trips here at L & M this season, feel free to send any pictures to us, if haven't already done so. We like to see and read everyones success stories and place some of the pictures up on our web site.

After the fishing season is completed here in September, we will write a fall letter to give full reports on our clients view on the whole Dryden move and if we have any new info to pass along on lodging for 2008 and pre-order situation, the fishing season, and how the fall water levels ended the season. For those of you who visited us early this season, you will notice both of our beech aircraft are sitting at L&M's docks for loading and take off.

It is a pleasure providing you, the fishermen and friends of L & M, your vacation in the back woods of Ontario. And we look forward to continuing to do so.

Enjoy the rest of your summer. If you are thinking of a possible late August or September trip, get in touch with us. We might still have a date available that works in your schedule.

If any of you have any comments/questions you wish to share or fish stories, we always like to hear all your success. Feel free to contact us at lja@nwonet.net or go to our website at www.lmflyin.com
We hope you have enjoyed this edition of our newsletter.
Sincerely,
L&M Fly In
