We are moving our airbase to Dryden, Ontario this spring
We have finally struck up a deal and are moving our outpost operations to Wabigoon Lake, south of Dryden, Ontario. We are excited about the move. We feel we will be able to service our camps and hold our cost down better by making this move.
We realize it is a little longer drive for you, our customers, but the shorter flight time will make it almost a wash, in the time it takes for you to get back to the border. The shorter flight time will help take the pressure off the pilots on bad weather days. And for those of you who get a little anxious on the long flights and don’t like the bumps, you will really appreciate the shorter flight.
Our base and office is south of the town Dryden.(read the direction sheet we have supplied for you for the details) You will drive right past a public golf course before coming to our airbase. So those of you who get in early and like to swing, bring your clubs with you. You can call them and set up tee times if you would like
Evergreen Golf Course ( 807- 937 - 6887 )
The airbase is 183.5 kilometers from Fort Frances (114 miles). We feel you should plan 2 hours for the trip once you are past Fort Frances in normal driving speeds.
The easiest way to reach us is to cross the border at International Falls, MN into Fort Frances Ontario and follow HWY 11 EAST through town. You will cross Rainy Lake at the Causeway Bridge. Continue on to the east until you come to Highway 502 North. (Roughly 5 minutes past “The Great Bear” gas station on the north side of the highway.
Turn left (north) on Hwy 502. Follow this highway north 89 miles.
Just south of Dryden you will see a sign for Wabigoon Lake Road and Evergreen Golf Course on the right side of the road. Turn right (east) and follow this road about 4 miles. You will drive past a public golf course. (Evergreen Golf Course) on the north side of the road.
Then you will come to a T-intersection where you will notice a cluster of mail boxes at the T.
Turn right (south) on McIntyre Drive and follow this about 1/4 mile to a Y in the road.
Take a left at the Y and follow 3/4 mile to Brough Drive. Turn Left and follow 1/3 mile to the end of the road. Here is L&M office.
We have supplied a map to help you navigate.
Keep these directions with you along with a copy of the map.
If you have questions, email us at Lja@nwonet.net or give us a call at 888-867-3335
*****Bait & Beverages & Special Grocery orders****
We will not have bait, beer or liquor or groceries at our airbase like we did in the past at our store.
You will need to pre-order all of these with L&M and we will have it at the base before you fly out. Give us a month notice for ALL pre-orders including bait and beverages and groceries.
We are happy to have these items there at the base or lake for you, we just need plenty of notice (at minimum one month) so we are able to have what you need.
For our customers who fly into International Falls MN commercially:
Send us your flight itinerary and we will schedule a taxi van to accommodate you. We have put together a list of motels in Dryden for you to contact for your overnight before your flight out to the cabin. You will need to allow for a two hour drive to get you to Dryden to your place of overnight lodging once you have cleared customs. We will arrange for a cab to bring you out to our airbase in the morning in plenty of time to make your scheduled flight time. Dryden has alot to offer to our guests, as for motels, restaurants, stores for grocery shopping and a WAL-MART.
We are preparing to get the flight schedules out to you SOON for those of you coming in May and in June.
So if any of you are bringing more people than you have confirmed for, we need to know NOW so the flights are set for that number. It is important we know the number of people scheduled so we can set the flight times.
We are sure once you have made this trip, you will agree that there is just not much difference from when we operated off Clearwater Lake.
Feel free to email any questions or concerns. Lja@nwonet.net
As you most of you were aware last year, Lucas & Nikki had purchased our Dogfly and Grant cabins last season. They have decided to break away from L & M operation. They will be operating their own business known as Gateway North Outfitters and they will keep their office location on Off Lake, located north of Emo.
For those of you who are going to be flying to Dogfly and Grant Lakes this season and hereafter, you will drive to Off Lake and fly from their base on Off Lake. L & M will no longer be flying you to your location, but Lucas will still manage the cabins the same as we had done in the past. And you will still be able to overnight the night before your fly out at their base cabins on Off Lake.
They will be in contact with all of you about their decision to stay at Off Lake. If you need to be in touch with them, you can reach them by email at info@gatewaynorthoutfitters.net and find them on the internet at
www.gatewaynorthoutfitters.com
or phone them at 807-482-1388
We hope that you will still keep in touch with us. We hope to hear from you from time to time.
All of us here at L & M
