Hello All,
Spring is right around the corner (or we hope it is anyway) and it is gladly welcomed. It's been a long winter filled with enough snow and cold for one winter. This will be our last newsletter before our spring fishing season starts. We've been getting supplies bought for the cabins that we need, picking up airplane parts, as well, so they are ready to fly come spring time. Everything is coming together nicely. We look forward to seeing all of you who are booked to come with us again this season.
Silent Auction: We held a silent auction in February which produced good feedback to fill a couple of early cancellation dates. Seems this economy is still struggling with what is all going on in the world along with high gas prices, again. That doesn't help the matter in doing business. For everyone's sake, we hope the gas prices don't go any higher this summer. I would like to point out regarding gas prices, we do not believe in fuel surcharges and we will not be tacking on any fuel surcharges, unlike some other outfitters who do in our industry. Cancellations: We have had a couple of summer time cancellation trips that happened just recently, that we are going to place up for auction in this newsletter right here, right now. We have other dates open besides what is listed below for the 2011 fishing season scattered out this season, so if you are interested in other dates or lakes than what is listed below, let us know and we can discuss your options. Th e ones listed below only serve as the cancellation dates we recently have received that are going up for auction in this newsletter.
Dobie Lake: July 30 August 5, 6 days -- walleye and northern
Fishtrap Lake: July 21 25, 4 days -- small mouth bass, northern, and walleye
Both lakes are the only cabin on the lake.
Each trip will be it's own separate auction in terms of the bidding. Please check our L & M web site for further information about each of the lakes mentioned. www.LMflyin.com
Same rules applied as previous auctions.
Rules to apply: Auction starts as soon as this newsletter is sent out and will close April 5, 2011. If you wish to place a bid, email us with your bid and we will require the following information for the bid to be accepted.
1) Which one of the above listed trips that you are bidding on.
2) Price per person of your bid.
3) How many people will be in your group.
4) Your name, mailing address, email and your phone number.
All bids are welcome. If you are the highest bidder when the auction closes, we will contact you (that is the reason why we are requiring your contact information) and a deposit will be required to secure the trip. In the event the highest bidder does not produce the deposit to secure the fishing trip, the 2nd highest bidder will be contacted, and so on. L & M reserves the right to hold a reserve bid. If you are interested in placing a bid, please email us and place Silent Auction Bid in the subject line of your email with the other information we have requested above to have listed out in the email. We look forward to another good fishing season in 2011. Please stay tuned to our fishing reports section of the web site for those who are interested. We have been logging the fishing reports into our web site since 2002. It can be interesting to check out the past and present reports.

Official opening weekend in Ontario walleye season is always the 3rd Saturday in May, which falls on May 21 for the 2011 season. The fishing reports will start to show up on web site as the first customers leave to go home. Many of you ask how we obtain these reports. We simpily hand a person from the group a clipboard on they're flight back home to say a few words about their trip and we in turn post those comments up in the fishing reports. Always interesting to see what each group will say as some reports are short to the point and others are rather interesting in how they describe the trip. All in all, it is always fun to read... no matter what. We are also excited to see what the reports will reveal from the new lake we are operating this season -- Meen lake.
Outboard Motors: We were able to secure a good bargain on some 9.9 Yamahas recently. We are adding seven more Yamaha 9.9 motors to our collection that we already have in stock. We intend on putting four of these in Meen lake this season and dispersing the others at a couple of the other lakes. We also plan on retiring the 8 hp Yamahas as the main camp motors at Austin lake as we secured 8 hp Mercury motors to be used at Austin this season.
We also purchased another 3000 watt Honda Generator recently. We plan on upgrading Otatakan's cabin system at some point in the 2011 season that will be comparable to Austin and Meen lake cabin systems. It is not high on our priority list as there are other projects we need to complete first before working on this one. So this could be done in the spring, summer, or fall in 2011 depending on how the summer goes. In addition we have a few other projects we will be working on during our free time as well.
For those who are booked for May trips this spring, the group leaders of the trip should have received your flight time letters in the mail recently. If you did not, let us know and we'll mail you another letter. Those where mailed out on March 16th. It is mentioned in the letter, please arrive 60 minutes earlier to the scheduled flight time to allow for time to check in and load the airplane(s), so please factor that in for when you arrive to the Dryden Airbase. June flight time letters will be mailed in April, July trips will be mailed in May, August trips will be mailed approx. in June. Keep an eye for these in the mail and make sure to read the information in the flight time letter. Important information is enclosed, so please actually read them.
Speaking of flights. Here is a short video clip that one of our customers took last season season. A thank you to the Furmanski Party who went to Austin last June for sharing. Obviously, many of you who read the newsletters are customers of ours and have been on a float plane before, but some of you who read these have not been to our place before or have not been in a float plane. Just a sample of what a take off is like in a float plane. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Myjc9e25pvY
Check List: Here is a checklist for those who are planning on coming to L & M this season: Much of this will be review and standard procedure if you are repeat customers of L & M, but nevertheless, a good checklist for the repeat or new customer alike.
1) Group size: If you know your group size is different than the confirmed number of people the trip was booked for according to your confirmation statement, let us know, so we can plan accordingly for the flights and get the other people confirmed to the trip. We plan and schedule flights according to how many people are confirmed for your trip. Plus, we can have your statement figured correctly for when you arrive for your balance.
2) Fishing licenses: We thank those who have this completed already. If you did not complete this yet, please have these filled out online as soon as possible via our web site. We like to have as many customers as possible have these filled out prior to our busy season so we can have as much paperwork filed before things get busy for us. It's greatly appreciated. This fishing license form should only take you about two minutes or less to submit with the information we need to obtain your fishing license.

3) Pre-Orders: If there is any pre-order items you know your group will be needing, let us know. We need at least 30 days prior notice to your trip. You letting us know the sooner the better. If you are going to pre order anything and know what you would like at this time, feel free to contact us now and we can get that on file for you. This includes any BEVERAGES, FOOD products, BAIT, or anything else your group might want us to provide for your fishing trip.
4) Night before your trip: Let us know your group plans for the night before your scheduled trip with L & M. We like to know this detail in case we need to contact your group for any unforeseen reason the night before so we know where to call and talk to you or leave a message. We seldom have to do that but it comes in handy if we do. If your group needs suggestions where might be the best place that suites your needs for the night before let us know what your thinking and we can give what you'll most likely enjoy for that night. Good number of people stay at Indian Point Camp if they want to be on the lake right near our airbase, or if a group rather stay in town for whatever reason a lot of them will stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Dryden (approx 25-30 minute drive to our airbase). Cindy at Indian Point is very helpful assisting our groups to overnight accommodations and making those arrangements. The rates there are very reasonably priced. If you decide to stay a t the Holiday Inn Express make sure to mention when you call there you are flying in with L & M and you will receive a camp rate discount for the room. There are other places to stay in town as well that are nice and people enjoy, but those are the two most popular that the people stay at.
5) Boater safety requirements: Make sure the boaters safety requirements have been completed prior to arriving. This includes having the boaters course completed ahead of time as that is the best way to comply with the Ontario Law. Also the 2nd part of the law having the required boater safety kits for each boat for while you are out fishing. It's just a couple of small items you need to bring with you and the group leader of each group was sent in with the trip packette what those items are. If you're still needing to take the once in a lifetime boaters course, this is just one of many that can be taken. It's free, can be done online, and is the quickest one we know of to take that complies with the regulation. www.boatus.com
Any state will work, some of the more popular states that people take include: ND, CO, FL, or MT. There are other courses too if you'd rather take a totally different one. This is just one example. Any course works from any state. Once a course is completed it is good for life.
Having these simple items completed as requested helps us to make our job easier and more efficent, which in turn is best for you as your trip will flow smoothly as possible. That way you can concentrate on having a great time when you show up for your vacation. Keeping these two basic concepts on your mind for when you arrive: to enjoy your vacation by having quality time with friends or family and catching fish.
If you have any questions, feel free to let us know. Hope everyone has a great spring. God bless.
