Today is June 12, 2007. We are finally getting some moisture here the last few weeks that Northwest Ontario needs. Today is no rain, but we are finally getting a burst of summer. There are some warm temps across NW Ontario today. It's a good day to write a quick newsletter to everyone and let you know how things are going for us here at L & M since its a warm day inside away from the bright sun. As most of you are aware of, L & M moved the base of operations to Dryden, Ontario the spring of 2007. So far, it's been going as good as it can go. It's taking lots of hard work and trying to figure out changes to the new property to make things go as smooth as they can go. We are 100% operational here in Dryden. All our docks and permits are in place and approved. The deal closed on this property here in Dryden on March 21, while we were at the MPLS sports show. As soon as the sports show ended we headed to the new location around April 1. We took the whole month of April to redo the inside of the building/office area as it's now ready for our clients for start up this spring. The outside jobs will take all of this year and into the following year to complete everything that needs to be fixed, replaced, or built. So we are calling the place, "Our place in the works". Everyone who has come this year so far has had no problems with driving to Dryden versus driving to Clearwater. For guests yet to come this year, just remember to have your directions ready when you come here. It's easy to find as long as you have the directions.
The fishing so far this year is as expected. Overall, everyone is catching bunches of fish with some good sized fish mixed in. Some groups better than others, but overall has been good success. Check our fishing reports for exact details on our website.
The weather has been up and down. Our spring to open camps up before opener was super. Great sunny weather, warm, light winds. Soon as opener came around, weather turned cold and nasty for a few days bringing lots of wind, rain, and some snow. Afterwards each day was different. Some nice days, some nasty rainy days. Finally this moisture has brought up our low water levels which was a major concern only a couple weeks ago to normal water levels. With this news I know this will bring new "light" to your up coming trips if you have them booked already for this summer.
Reminders: All of you who still have trips yet to come. If you are wanting ANY pre-orders such as beverages, food, or even bait, we are requesting AT LEAST ONE MONTH prior notice to your trips. I am also asking from everyone to let L & M know where you plan on spending the night before your trip or your travel plans if you already have not told someone at L & M. Reason being, just in case we need to reach any of you the night before I know where to call to find you. Speaking of that, I recently added one more place we recommend to over night to my list last few weeks. Its listed on our website. Its called Indian Point Camp and they are located right here on Wabigoon lake near our airbase. Its located right across the bay within 5 minute drive of our place and looking out from our docks you can see Indian Point. Worth checking into if you have not already booked your motel rooms. The contact info is on my web site for Indian Point Camp. For those who stayed at Lucas' and Nicole's over night cabins on Off lake before I would suggest trying this place out.
I have mailed our July flight times and most should have got them in the mail or will be in the next couple of days. The August flight times will be sending in a couple weeks.
I hope everyone has a good summer and safe travel to your destinations this summer. If anyone of you have ANY questions about trips or details on a trip already booked, feel free to contact us. lja@nwonet.net
